EQUINE GOODS AND SERVICES FOR THE KENAI PENINSULA

We are developing guest ranch facilities (a small guest house rental with compact equine paddock and parking that can accommodate a truck and trailer). In winter, this is a fabulous stay for backcountry Nordic skiers and snowmachiners who want a swanky-rustic stay directly across the highway from the renowned Clam Gulch Trail System. Equine overnight facilities will be available beginning Summer of 2025. Our guest house, the Lookout, is accepting reservations now!

  • ABOUT OUR RANCH

We are a compact horse and mule ranch perched on the bluff above the beaches of Tikahtnu (Cook Inlet). Located on ancestral Dena'ina lands, our ranch has sweeping views of the Alaska range, lush pastures in summer, and is easy access from the Sterling highway. We are developing onsite guest ranch facilities to open in winter 2024/2025, and we still provide online tack sales. We will also be continuing our equines-for-hire program.

  • HISTORY OF THE OLD CANNERY

The Old Cannery Ranch is located near milemarker 119 of the Sterling Highway in the rural area of Qałnigi D’nazludt (Clam Gulch) on Dena'ina lands of the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska. Our ranch is built on the old cannery site of Osmar's Ocean Specialties, and is part of the original Osmar Homestead. We have named our ranch after the historic cannery, and designed our logo around this picture of Per Osmar with his cannery retort. Pieces of the old cannery still remain around the property.
